Bridging the Gap in the Foster Care Community

12 Hours of Christmas

We serve hundreds of children in foster/kinship care a year at Christmas time! What makes our event special and unique is our sponsors do not purchase just one gift per child, they buy the entire wish list for a child. Each child gets approximately $125-$150 spent on them. The Gastonia event is always the first Saturday in December, we also have a Christmas event in Rutherford county. After all the gifts are wrapped and put away and the children have played, they all enjoy a family meal and see Santa. It is magical day for the families to enjoy. Registration for this event opens in September and closes in November.

We are so excited to serve and share Christmas magic with over 5000 children in foster and kinship care at 12 Hours of Christmas (Gastonia), Hometown Christmas (Rutherfordton), and Lake Norman Christmas (Cornelius) this year. Before you register you must agree to the following:

  • The child must be present at our event in order to receive Christmas assistance from us.
  • Please do not register children who are sponsored through Toys for Tots, Salvation Army or area churches or ministries that sponsor children at Christmas.
  • While we would love to serve all the children at Christmas, our resources are limited. If you do not have an open DHHS case, we will try to serve you, but we must have a referral from a school counselor, clergy or someone approved by Selina Johnson.
  • We will call you within 2 weeks of receiving the application to let you know if your request has been approved and to make an appointment.
  • Registration is open September 25th- November 5th, 2020
  • If the online form is not working, please be patient and try again as a record number of people are registering during the first week.

Please contact Selina Johnson, [email protected], 704-215-4344 if you have questions.
